This should be a serious post I planned about research and time, but as our broadband has been on the blink for a fortnight and there are things I have to attend to rather urgently. This is short and, I hope, sweet.
I went on Amazon to check something for my personal page on the Society of Authors website and found this, which is cheering. My husband decided the washing line merited a photo.
And I tried so hard to get a photo of the long-tailed tits bathing. This is the best I could manage.
That’s it folks (if the our broadband works long enough to post it).
I just tried to order your book but then decided it was too soon. I’ll order nearer the time. Best wishes Janet
Thanks so much, but it is definitely a little way off.
I agree with your husband about the washing line 🙂 Nice and bright 🙂 It must feel wonderful to see your book like that!
Well it was a happy surprise. I’m used to being in control of the timing, to some extent, but with mainstream publishing things happen in a different order.
That is a really good photograph of the birds. Photographing wildlife can be really difficult.
You are very kind, there were at least another ten photos which were even less presentable, but the fun of watching the birds was unbeatable.
That is a lovely, colorful washing line. Congratulations on the release of your new book! 🙂
Many thanks, the book won’t be out until the end of June (that is the first time I had a date). The orange towel was new and I was afraid the dye would run, so I put all my reddish towels in together.
Good and colourful washing. The birds are having a ball too. But what about the rosemary? You have a fine supply there,Hilary. All the best with your latest book.
The rosemary seems to flourish there and is good cover for the birds. I have just dug out a big bush the other side of the bath and replaced it with two of my seedling maples, I am hoping neither the birds nor the rosemary will mind the substitution.
Congratulations on the book coming out. That is VERY cheering! And I got a chuckle out of the name of the birds.
The book won’t actually be out for a bit (I’ve only just sent the index to the publishers!), but that is the first time I have seen a release date. You are right about the bird name – you can’t ver shorten it without getting into trouble (I did try out some alternative post titles).
Congratulations on the publication, Hilary!!! You Brits are always talking about tits…..but here in North America the word really has only one meaning and appears not in bird-watching circles but more likely on pornographic websites…..the brain always boggles.
The book won’t be out until the end of June (if the Amazon is to be believed), but I have struggled to get the publishers to give me a date, so it was good to see it. Tits… yes, we have Coal tits, Blue tits, Long-tailed tits and Great tits… but I had to reject my first post title when I thought it through.
🙂
Coal tits are so dinky! You just feel like stroking them down the back of their heads.
They are and provide utter distraction feeding just outside my writing room window.
I love those birds! And congrats on the book!
Thanks so much. I love them too.
Good news indeed, Hilary. Coming soon! And I liked the clothes line and long tailed tits. Good luck on the broadband. Our son-in-law has just gone to work for Google and his first job will be to bring fiberoptic cable to the city of Charlotte, North Carolina. Thats what we all need. –Curt
There is supposed to be fibre-optic in our village, however, the telephone exchange is so ancient and ropey that until that is replaced we will be having the same hassles. We get about six months smooth operation, three months so-so and three months maddening failure per year. Engineer will be visiting tomorrow…
Good luck!
Dear Hilary,
I love the colorful photos. They’d make great prompts. 😉
Your book looks very interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Best wishes for success.
Shalom,
Rochelle
Dear Rochelle, I am finally reading Please Say Kaddish For Me, it is very moving and a great window on a bit of history I know little about. It is on my iPad so I only get to read it when I am travelling, but we have a longer journey on Saturday.
I’m honored. 😀
Congratulations on the book. It looks interesting and will look out for it.
Thanks, it’s still a little way off (I’ve only just sent back the second proofs and the index).
The book cover looks great, Hilary, how exciting to see it online already. I always feel privileged when long-tailed tits visit the garden as they don’t come here very often. Your shot of them in the bird bath is delightful.
Thanks. The long-tailed tits give me pleasure every day – for free!
I love the cover of your latest book, it’s great that its available to pre-order. Love the washing line, I’ve had a couple of disasters with a red/orange/pink wash and light tops, it’s lucky I like pale pink too.
Glad the cover works. I had limited say about this and was rather anxious. The flame coloured towel had never been washed before… hence the carefully chosen companions that were similar or didn’t matter to test its colourfastness!
Get I get a copy direct from you by 29 March? I’d like to buy one for my Grandads birthday?
I don’t think I will have any copies before late April/May. I could make a special card (based on my launch invitation, so easy to do) which says the book will be on its way, hot off the press, in May, would that do?
Great photo of the wash line. Smart man, your husband. And I really like the cover of your book, Hilary. Well done! I will be getting a copy when it’s released.
Thanks so much. I think it will be available in Canada, but I’m not sure of the release date. Yours will be out ahead of mine. I look forward to it.
